Date night/Hair Modeling

The last post was starting to get too long for my liking, and this one will have quite a few pictures! I don't really know where to begin this post. January has been good so far. We like the new friends that we have made in Texas and are growing to like it more and more (especially the warm weather). Ask me this summer if I like the weather and I will probably be dying of heat! Well, a few weeks ago, my friend asked me if I would be interested in being a hair model. I have always hated my hair. In fact, if anyone asked "what part of your body do you hate the most?" I would always say "my hair!" Needless to say, I was kind of nervous. She took a picture of me and sent it in to see if I was someone that the company would be interested in...and guess what? I was! I went in on Saturday to get my hair done by this AWESOME stylist from Los Angeles. He made me feel good by telling me that I was the perfect natural blonde and that he was excited with what he was about to do. He ended up putting not one, but 3 colors of blonde into my hair and the "color personality" of Roman Goddess. He then cut my hair and told me not to touch it or wash it so that he could do what he wanted with it for the show the next day.

That night, I was feeling pretty good, so Christian and I went out with good friends to a really nice restaurant called Sorrento downtown. It was gorgeous inside with a pianist and low lights and candles. It has been so long since we have done something like that and it was so relaxing and fun!
The next morning, my friend took me to the hotel to get my hair and make up ready for the show. It was set up in curls, I was told, for a "madmen" look. I have never heard of or seen madmen, so I just assumed that it was going to be great. And, it was! I was in love with the style they gave me. I was a little nervous to try and act all confident and pose the right way, but once I got in front of lights and people, it ended up being way more fun than scary. Thanks to my husband for being with the kids by himself for 2 whole days so that I could have this experience. I am going to do it again soon!

Catch up

It has been over a month since I have written. Instead of telling every little thing that has happened, I will maybe just say the event and something about it, and then post pictures. First up, Christmas. There were way too many pictures taken on Christmas day, so I just picked a couple. Kennedy's favorite gifts were her Princess charm school barbies and her princess scooter. She has gotten really good at riding it too. Her and Liam were pretty spoiled and had so much fun opening their gifts and stockings. Liam's favorite gifts was his pack of Caillou DVD's, his ride on ATV and his tow truck. He crashed a lot trying to get a hold of the ATV and he still has a hard time riding it, but he loved it. Christmas day, we went to church with my parents and siblings, and then went back to their house for gifts and dinner and games. It was such a fun Christmas because all of us siblings were together for the first time in over 2 years!New Year's Eve: For NYE, we decided to have a party with some close friends, our family and my sister's boyfriend. We watched the fireworks show that my parents neighborhood put on and it felt like the 4th of July. Kennedy was riding around on her scooter in the dark, we were all on camping chairs and blankets. It was such a warm, nice night out. After fireworks, we played some games, ate food, watched some "world's Dumbest" and lit some of our own fireworks. Although Kennedy fell asleep before midnight, Liam was up and ready for some sparkling cider!

This post is getting way to long, so I am going to make a new one now for January!

Living Simply

This morning, I was looking back on when Christian and I were first married and I thought "we sure had a lot more "stuff" back then." We had 2 working vehicles, cell phones, DVD players, TV's and all sorts of electronic stuff. I thought that coming here without a second car would be one of the hardest transitions because we have never been without 2 cars in our marriage. It has actually turned out to be the opposite! I drive Christian to the park and ride to pick up the bus downtown every day, and it works out perfectly for both of us. He does not have to sit in traffic and has time to study for his test on the bus, and I get to have the car to transport the kids around for the day. Plus, it saves on gas, insurance and registration for 2 cars, which helps out a ton! We have no sort of cable TV or satellite, no recording devices, no smart phones...and you know what? It is perfect! I thought that not watching Glee, or any of my other shows would be too much not to have, and I have not even missed them. Not one bit! I found that I have more time to appreciate the little things in my life and more time to play with my kids. In 8 short months, Kennedy will start full day Kindergarten, and I will not have this time with her any more. I am blessed to be able to stay home and to spend this time with my kids. Even though I might get overwhelmed sometimes and wish for my children to grow up, deep down, I know it is already happening. And way too fast! I am not saying that we will never have cable, or smart phones or all of that "stuff", but for now, I am perfectly content and happy to not have those things.

Winter in Texas

I have decided that it would take WAY too much time to catch up on everything that has happened in the past few months, but they have been busy, fun and full of good stuff! First off, Christian got a great job downtown! We are really excited about it for a few reasons, but mostly because they they are going to pay for him to finish his certification! It seems like a great company and Christian loves it. Kennedy has been doing much better at adjusting to her new surroundings here, but she has been really sad that it does not snow here! She even asked Santa for snow so that she can go sledding! Well, we found out that my mom's awesome neighborhood was bringing in snow for their Christmas carnival! I had to take the kids. When Kennedy saw the snow, she threw on her gloves and her beanie, and jumped right in making snowballs and slipping and sliding! It was great to see her so happy! Liam had fun on the train ride as well. There was something for everyone!

After the carnival, we went to our church Christmas party. Kennedy found her "boyfriend", and they took off dancing. There was Santa, food and a band. Between all of the Christmas parties and going to see the play "White Christmas" with my mom, I am really in the Christmas mood. I don't need snow for it to be Christmas. I grew up my whole life between here and California, so I never had white Christmases. It does not mean that there is any less Christmas spirit around here!

To end this post, I am just going to write a few things about the kids so that I don't forget. And, for the grandparents of course!

KENNEDY

- Her new obsession is "The Wizard of Oz" she has all of the barbies at my moms and pulls out each doll as they show up in the movie.
- She likes to use really big words, even if she does not know the correct context. She also likes to act like she is 12 instead of 4. For example, she says things like "I am going to put this in my purse for safe keeping." And "I think that I am having an allergic reaction" (no, she is not having any allergic reactions)
- She loves music. Especially Taylor Swift. She said the she loves Taylor's hair, her nails, he dress, her mascara and her songs. She wants a doll of her.

LIAM

- Liam talks a lot now! I still can not understand everything he says, but most of the time we can.
- He loves to give kisses. He kisses me 100 times a day or more! I love how cuddly and sweet he is. He can't stand for his sister to cry and says "it's okay Endy. Don't cry."
- potty training and project "take the binky away" is still in progress. He is doing much better though at both.

I will try my best to keep up with this so that I don't have to write ridiculously long posts to catch up. Hope everyone is doing well!

Not Dead

Yes, I am still here! I have just been so busy lately. Especially with Thanksgiving and family and all of that fun stuff. I still have a lot to post about, but I am not even on my own computer and therefore, I can not post with the pictures. I will post again very soon about everything. Maybe even tomorrow. With that, I will leave you with a picture of the fabulous Turkey veggie tray I made for Thanksgiving...Thank you Pinterest!!

Girls Time

Kennedy is so helpful these days...when she is not whining! She always gets diapers for me, she loves to help cook and do dishes, and she loves to do crafts with mom. Today, we made a fun little wood craft that was a pilgrim on the front, and Frankenstein on the back. Kennedy helped me to paint the wood, modge podge the paper on, and stick the vinyl on as well. She loved it so much that I need to look for some new crafts to do with her. It is so fun to see her enjoy herself and listen to her talk to me about things while we sit together and work on something. Today, she told me that she is going to ask santa for "SNOW for Christmas." I don't think he will deliver that, but you never know, right? I love my Kennedy!

Life is What you Make of it

I know, it has been a while since I have written. And, I have no new pictures. I just felt like writing today, because, well, I had a really good day. I did not have a good day because I did anything great. I did not have a good day because something amazing happened to me. I did not have a good day because someone did something nice for me. I had a good day because I CHOSE to have a good day. I woke up his morning and the fall air was cool and perfect. I took my kids to the park and played with them and pushed them on the swings. I met some mom's and decided that I love the Texas people and how nice and accepting they are. I drove by my mom's school and surprised her with her grandchildren. We talked and had some snacks from the snack machine and decided to do something fun tomorrow! I came home, had a little nap while the kids slept and woke up rejuvenated and happy. I just text some friends to meet me for dinner and I am excited about that! Life really is what you make of it. Crappy things happen, things don't always go as expected, but having a bad attitude never made anything any better. I'm not saying I can't or won't have bad days, but as for today, I feel good...content...happy! The End!
