8 years since prom?

I feel so old! My 2 younger brothers just attended prom and it reminded me of mine 8 not so long years ago. I went with my high school boyfriend, matt melvin. The night began not so well. I wrote in a previous post about how my mom did my hair daily... Well, my prom night just happened to fall on her college graduation day. Big deal right? Not to me! I could have cared less about the 10 hellish years it took her to get through papers, study for tests and do homework while raising 4 kids. All I cared was that she hurried home to do my hair for prom! When matt showed up to pick me up, I was in tears because my hair was in curlers and my mom was still not home! I imagined fluttering down the staircase looking stunning and having my boyfriend stare in awe at how beautiful I looked! Instead, I was a puffy eyed girl with a fro! My wonderful mother showed up soon after and fixed me up nicely. Without her, my whole night...and life would have been ruined! We then took a limo, along with our good friends, to rainbow lodge for a very expensive dinner. Every girl in our group ordered a salad, but matt knew me better than that! I got the venison with quail and lobster for an appetiser. Luckily he had saved up for the occasion knowing that I eat like a pig! The prom was spent dancing and waiting in line forever for prom pictures. I don't really remember the actual prom, because the real fun was after it. Maybe its a Texas thing, but after prom, we get locked into a "fun" place til 5 am. And it was fun...until one by one people started to pass out on the floors and benches of "fame city". We were literally locked in. There was an actual line by the door to get out of that place. There is only so much bowling and put put golf one can do in a single night. Anyway, you would think prom is over right? Wrong! In Texas, it is a weekend event. My mom made me come home and sleep while my friends got to stay at the hotel. Gotta keep the morals! I maybe slept for 2 hours before driving to the lake for skiing and knee boarding. At about 5 pm, I felt like I was in a cloudy dream from pure exhaustion. (has that ever happened to any of you?) I really felt like I was stuck in a dream and that nothing around me was real anymore! I told matt that I had to go home and sleep, so his parents drove out to get me while he, and the rest of my friends stayed at a hotel. The whole day still seems like a blur because I still can't tell what happened and what didnt. I was really that tired! Well, that was it! Maybe it was more magical and spactacular, but I have forgotten. Isnt it funny how when we are in high school it feels like there is no life outside of it, but once you graduate, it all seems so petty and small? Sorry for putting you all through my reminicing. At least it was fun for me!

I love it, good story, and I am so glad I am out of high school forever. I see my nephews right now and feel so bad for the temptations and trials they are going through...seriously petty is right.

It was so weird to go from TX dances to UT dances where all the effort goes into the asking. They are almost as elaborate as a proposal. I do miss the homecoming mums though. They didn't get those. I do think at the TX prom, I received my first kiss from none other than Nathan Orton. Talk about old, I have MARRIED for 8 years! AHHH I'm old:)
