Horrible Blogger!

Why am I such a horrible blogger lately? OH YEAH! Maybe it is because I work all day, have 2 toddlers and spend any free time I have showering, cleaning my house or playing Frontierville! Lame, I know, but I need something fun in my life right now. The flu has been going around in my family this week, and so far (knock on wood), I am the only one who has not gotten it! Just watch, now that I wrote that on paper, I will be throwing up all night tonight. That would be my luck.

I just wanted to give everyone a quick update on life. Kennedy and I went to Texas 2 weeks ago for my 10 year high school reunion. I had so much fun hanging out with old friends and letting Kennedy hang out with her Grammy B for a while. My parents flew back to Utah on the same day as us to attend my Great grandpa K's funeral. Kennedy and I will be sad to not be able to go visit grandpa anymore. He always loved to see Kennedy and bounce her on his knee. He always loved to show her off to the people at his nursing home. It feels strange not to have him around to go visit and play Skip-Bo with anymore. We will miss him.

On another note, Kennedy is having fun with school and dance. Today was her first dance to perform. Only, she did not perform AT ALL!!! She stood there and cried the entire dance. I was so mad because her grandparents came to watch and record her and then all she did was cry. She has her big Christmas recital at the Festival of Trees in December. If she does not perform there, I may just take her out completely. Maybe it will be a funny story some day, but I was just MAD today. Please tell me your kid has done something like this so that I don;t feel so bad.

Liam is doing well also. He is just getting molars in, so he has not been a happy camper for the past week or so. He loves to run around with his sister and sing "ashes, ashes, ah, ah, ah." It is so cute. Kennedy really loves him (except for when he turns off her movies).

Overall, life is just really busy right now. Christian went back to school, so I have the kids ALL day at work, and then have them all night long while he goes to school from 6-9 each night. I hope it will all pay off soon. I feel like I have been so boring lately in all of my writing. Maybe I will get inspired to be fun and funny again soon.

Liam is ONE today!

I can not believe that my baby boy is one year old today! In some ways, it feels like he was just born yesterday. In other ways, I feel like I have never lived life without him! He is such a blessing to our family and continues to be such a sweet boy. He likes to try to do everything his big sister does. He also likes to annoy her by turning off the TV while she is watching it. Kennedy is a great big sister most of the time. She loves having him around to play with and she makes sure that we have him with us AT ALL TIMES! If I pretend like I am going to leave him somewhere, she starts to cry and says "No! I want my Liam!"

On Saturday, we had Liam's birthday party. We did a cowboy theme even though Christian thought it was kind of lame. I thought it was really cute! We had cowboy balloons, cowboy decorations and an AWESOME cowboy cake by Pink Peach Cakes. I actually won a cake of my choice on her blog! She did such a great job on it, don't you think?a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6Kekp18tujCGQ0k2BepfibjxrfLT3EQYCtuAbz7HQaotv2ZlprpzDbYkUAWD1YOnrWDbcx4TU_362Ftqgj6_krXDyU8mdBRPC3VbWFEUb2sPYvoIC9na9MsmEs_Wy_vlF7ZdWVzAFLV-z/s1600/IMG_0441.jpg">

Liam seemed to love his party. He loved all of his presents, especially since he did not have any toys of his own before yesterday. I guess it is the second child syndrome. Poor guy! Even though I don't take as many pictures or videos of him as I did with Kennedy, I love him just as much and am so happy that he is in our family. I love you Liam! Happy birthday!

Disney Part 2

The next morning, we let the kids sleep because they both had major melt downs the night before. When we got there, Kennedy spotted Captain Hook walking down the street. Kennedy's favorite movie in the whole world is "Peter Pan", so she grabbed my hand and we started chasing him down. He seemed like he was in a hurry and he was not stopping for anybody. Kennedy was screaming, "Captain Hook!" but he could not hear her. I finally screamed "Can you please stop! You are her favorite!" I don't think that Captain Hook hears that he is any one's favorite very often, so he stopped and got on one knee and kissed her hand. Then she hugged him so tight and said "See mommy! He is not mean. He is a nice guy!" It was so cute! I tried to get my camera out for the adorable shot, but he was really in a hurry so I did not have time. I had to write it down though so that I would never forget that moment.

Kennedy is a pretty tall two year old, so she was able to ride a lot of the bigger rides. She even liked the Matterhorn! She was really fearless and even forced me to take her back to the Haunted Mansion so that she could "see the ghost sit in my lap". It was too funny to see her look down at her lap and then back up at the mirror to see the ghost sitting with her. She still talks about it daily! We had a nice lunch at the "Blue Bayou" and then we were FORCED to go to Pixie Hollow. For anyone who does not know what Pixie Hollow is, it is the place where Tinkerbell lives. Little did we know that we would be waiting in that crazy line for over an hour to meet her. I do have to say that the wait was well worth seeing how much joy it brought to Kennedy. She hugged her so tight and did not want to let go. Then, she would let go and hug her again. I hope that the video loads because it was so cute! If not, you can see it on my facebook page.

The adults switched off staying off rides with the kids, so we got to go on quite a few big rides as well. I took a few pictures of us on the rides, but I will have to post more later. I don't want to overload everyone with pictures because we have about a hundred of them! Later on that night, we went to get our seats for the "Wonderful World Of Color" show at California Adventure. I have not other words for that show except for that it was Magical and AMAZING! If you are going to Disneyland any time soon, DO NOT MISS THIS SHOW! It is a half hour long water, laser and light show with great music and amazing special effects. I can't wait to go back and see it again soon.

to end our night, we decided to go on Tower of Terror one last time. It is all of our favorite rides! But to get there, we had to walk through this new thing called "Glow Fest". It is seriously a full on night club in the middle of the street. There are Bollywood dancers in cages and strange men with neon wigs and leather outfits that dance on top of stages in the middle of the road. They also start serving alcohol in little kiosks that serve drinks with glow in the dark ice cubes. I have never seen anything like that....especially not at a Disney Park. It was so fun to watch and dance while we made our way to the ride. It was crazy hot many people were dancing in the street! It was such a great ending to a great day! And the best part was...THERE WERE NO MELTDOWNS! The kids were so good all day and did not cry or complain about anything. It was so perfect!

I was sad to leave Disneyland, but I am glad that we live close because I want to plan to go yearly now if we are able to. I will write about the rest of our vacation in my next post.

Vacation Part 2- Disneyland

After my first great night of sleep on our vacation, we woke up early and ventured to Disneyland. Kennedy wore her special Snow White dress that my mom made for her to meet the princesses in. She was so excited to get in and start riding the rides. Of course, we had to ride the Snow White ride first. Besides being a little scary for a 2 year old, she liked it and was ready for Pinocchio. That ride was even more scary as she was on the side where the big whale looks like it is going to eat you. She screamed "DADDY" when the whale came, but then she seemed okay. At least I thought she was. But when we went to get on Small world, she said that she did not want to go because it was "too scary". We had to do some convincing that there were no scary things on that ride and she ended up very happy after it was over.

After spending an hour in line meeting Mickey and Minnie (which I need to get pictures of from my dad), we went over to California Adventure to eat at Ariel's Grotto. I have to suggest this place for anyone that has daughters that LOVE Disney princesses! Before you are seated, you walk down a spiral staircase and get to meet Ariel.

Then you are seated and get a plethora of appetizers for your table. Next, they announce the princesses one by one and they stop by each table to meet and greet your little "princess". The food was pretty good, but REALLY expensive. I guess you are paying for the great atmosphere though. When the first princess came by our table (Jasmine), it seemed like Kennedy was in shock! Kennedy did not say a word! She just hugged her and showed off her beautiful dress to her.

Snow White came next and Kennedy was in heaven! It was hard to get her to smile during the pictures because she was in such shock that she was meeting THE Snow White! It was so cute to watch how she interacted with her. (it was so cute that Kennedy wanted to put her wig on when Snow White came. She wanted to look just like her!)

Aurora came next.

And then, my favorite, Cinderella. Cinderella was so sweet to Kennedy. She twirled around with her like a princess and hugged her and talked with her longer than any of the others. She really made Kennedy feel special.

Finally, the lunch ended with a yummy desert. The shell and the Ariel were made of white chocolate and the cake had melted chocolate in the middle to dip the fruit in. It was such a fun lunch with all of the princesses.

We spent the rest of the day going on rides. Surprisingly, Kennedy's favorite ride was the scariest one! Haunted Mansion! She was not afraid at all. In fact, she asked to go on it again as soon as it was done. For those of you who know my daughter, she is obsessed with Scooby Doo, haunted houses and ghosts. She looked at every ghost on the ride and said "that ghost is so pretty!" lol. She is a nut!

By the time fireworks ended, both kids were passed out in the stroller. I went on a "big kid" ride with my step dad (splash mountain), and then we went home (to my aunts house) to sleep before doing it all over again the very next day!

Stay tuned for Part 3 tomorrow: Disneyland part 2 and the beach

Vacation Part One-WORST TRIP EVER!

WARNING: long post, but very entertaining...for you anyway.

Thanks to the most wonderful mother in the whole world, I FINALLY have a new computer. And guess what? It's a Macbook like I have always wanted! I am so excited to be back in the world of blogging. So much has happened that I can not possibly write all of it, so I will just write from our recent vacation to California.

the trip started out rough...and I mean ROUGH! Liam woke up with a fever and a really bad cough. Instead of leaving at 7:00am like we planned, I waited to get him into the doctor. He got a 9:30am appointment and we were told that he had croup with stridors. That means that his airway was really blocked and he was having a hard time breathing. He was given a steroid to open his throat and the doctor said to take him the the ER if it seemed like he could not breathe. Great start to a vacation right? We ended up not leaving until about 11:00am.

To make matters worse, Kennedy decided that she needed to use the restroom between Mesquite and Las Vegas. Anyone who has driven that stretch of road knows that there is nothing but sand and cacti for an entire 70 miles or so. So, we stopped on the side of the road to let her go. Little did I know that my new phone fell out of my pocket and onto the pavement never to be found again. Even if I had found it on the way back, it would have been melted into the ground. I was very sad and am still in the process of trying to replace it. I have about 13 voice mails that still need to be checked. By this point, I really wanted to turn around and come back home, but I also really wanted a vacation. And so, we journeyed on.

When we got to our hotel in Las Vegas, Kennedy was so excited to get out of the car and into the pool. Just as we were going out of our room, the heavy door hit Kennedy's big toe and ripped it almost clear off! We had to carry her down to the lobby with a towel wrapped around her toe while she screamed! Poor girl. She did not want to miss swimming for anything, so she went in anyway. By this time, I could not wait to just get into my bed and go to sleep. Alas, I had a sick baby...and when baby does not sleep, mom does not sleep either. I was up all night long between Liam coughing and a rock hard bed and paper thin pillow.
Is this vacation starting to sound like National Lampoons vacation? Maybe I am being dramatic, but I felt as if God opened the clouds and said, "I HATE YOU CARLI" (name that movie)

After about a good 3 hours of sleep, we continued on to California. I felt better knowing that we only had a 5 hour drive ahead of us. wait a minute...STRIKE THAT! I was traveling with two kids and some very bad luck, so it really took us more like 8 hours. We stopped in Baker for some "Alien Jerky" because the kids were both tired of being in the car and ready for a break and some ice cream. It was 115 degrees outside which did not make for happy children. We got in the car and planned on driving straight through to Orange county, but the foreign fruit check decided to open up and we were stuck in an hour long line! That check point has NEVER been opened in all of the times that I have driven that stretch of road. But they decided to open up the day that I have a screaming baby in the car. He was screaming even more because the car was not moving at all!

By the time we got through that traffic, were were only in Barstow and still had a good three hours of driving left to go. We decided to stop and let the kids out to eat and stretch their legs yet again. This felt like the longest day ever because we just wanted to get there! Something else bad happened in Barstow, but I am too embarrassed to blog about it, so I wont. (if you want to ask me about it, I will send you a message with what happened) We were now back in the car again and on our way. "NO MORE STOPPING!" I said...hoping that if I said it loud enough, it would come true. We put my grandparents address into the GPS and were off. I knew how to get to my grandparents house. I have been there a hundred times, but the GPS said that there was a faster way. Stupid me listened to the GPS and got onto a freeway that I have never been on before. Little did we know that it was a toll road.

We paid the first $2.50 when we got on the freeway. We paid it again about 20 miles down the road. Then our GPS decided to stop working! I though I remembered the name of the exit, so I told Christian to get off the freeway. One problem...at the end of the freeway, It asked for $1.50 in CHANGE! No cash allowed, no person to take our money. Just a machine that took dimes, nickels and quarters. We dug up $1.00 in change and then could only find pennies. The machine did not take pennies! We both got out of the car and searched under seats and through every bag we had. I was so sad when we were a nickel short! The toll booth said that if we passed without paying, the fine was $75.00! I said a quick prayer and looked in the truck. There, we found a nickel! We ended up laughing so hard when we finally got through the toll and were happy to almost be there!

If anyone knows me, they know that without bad luck, I would have NO luck at all. And, it was true in this case as well. With the GPS not working, and me not knowing where exactly we were when we exited the freeway, we stopped to look for an outlet to charge Christian's iPhone to look on the map to see where we were. Remember, I had no phone either to call to see where we were going and Christian's was out of batteries. I spotted an outdoor outlet at a grocery store and let the phone charge for a few minutes. All the while, my two kids are both crying in the car to get out. I looked on the map and had NO idea where we were. Not even the directions made sense anymore. I called my mom to see if she could tell us where to go. My grandpa told us that there were 2 exits with the same name and that they were the second exit.

We stopped at a gas station to get some change to get back on the toll road. We did not want to get stuck without money again. We got back on the toll road, paid another $2.50 and what do you know? We passed the exit!!! In order to turn around, we would have to pay $1.50 to get off and pay another $2.50 to get back on. Well, that is EXACTLY what we did and we still got lost. $17 later, and still no final destination! We ended up pulling over at a store and letting my parents come and find us. I really had no clue where we were and I still do not know how the GPS took us so far out of our way.

Anyway, we were FINALLY found and we got to my grandparents home at about 7:00 that night. REALLY! 7 1/2 hours later! (this part is almost over I promise) After a great homemade meal and a shower, I knew that I would sleep well that night after having only 3 hours sleep the night before. I laid down in bed (after giving Liam yet another steroid to open his airway) and tried to sleep. I looked at the clock and it was 4:30 am...and I could still not sleep! I finally dozed off at around 5:00am and was woken up by the baby at about 8:00. I was exhausted and in a horrible mood. I was happy that we had no real plans that day, so I mostly got to relax and hang out with my family.

That night, I took not one, but two sleeping pills and slept VERY WELL thank you! Stay tuned for vacation part dos tomorrow! (one problem.. I have pictures but I have no idea how to cut and paste on a mac. any help would be much appreciated)

Still no Computer

Since I still do not have my computer fixed, I am posting from my in laws computer. I have a few pictures that I downloaded, but I have not taken hardly ANY pictures in the past couple of months because of how busy I have been. News wise, I don't have a lot to share...mostly because I have forgotten anything worth while that may have happened.

Kennedy is saying HILARIOUS things as always. Here are a couple of conversations with her.

Situation: Kennedy had a booger on her finger and I rant to get a tissue
Me: Kennedy, EW! That is soooo Gross!
Kennedy: It's okay mommy. It's not a scary boogie, it's just a nice boogie.

Me: can I have a cookie
Kennedy: Yes, mommy
Me: Thank you
Kennedy: Oh sure, anytime!

Kennedy: Hi mom
Me: Hi
Kennedy: Do you just LOVE Liam?

Maybe these are not cute to anyone else, but I wanted to record them for myself. She also says "Oh my work" instead of "oh my word".

Liam went from crawling to standing to walking along furniture in a matter of about 2 weeks. He is always falling down and hitting his head on something these days.

This post was kind of boring, but at least I have pictures this time! Right?!

Blog? What Blog?

WOW! I hate that it has been forever since I have written anything. And sorry in advance as this post will have no pictures. Why you ask? Well, in my life, when it rains, it POURS! Both of our computers broke down at the same time. I took them to be fixed, but it turns out that they will cost about as much to be fixed as it will cost us to get a new one. We just don't have extra money floating around to buy a new one yet, so I am blogging from work while the children are all sleeping.

Did I mention that when it rains, it POURS? Well, both of our cars ALSO broke down at the same time so we are getting those fixed as well. Luckily, my brother is in New York for 2 months so we are using his car for now. We were kind of relying on fixing the cars with our tax returns, but it turns out that we are not really getting one so we will just have to work with what we have for now.

Besides everything breaking, I have been very busy lately working with my new day care. It is really going well. We are full on kids now and we are fully licenced. We also got on the food program this week! Besides the long hours, it is a pretty good job. I get to have my kids with me all day and I can walk here when the weather is nice.

In other news, my sweet Liam now sits up and almost crawls! He can move around quite a bit now. I can't believe he is getting so big already! He is still a great baby and we love him a lot! Kennedy is getting to be so big as well. She loves saying crazy things like "holla, holla chicken dolla!" as well as "see you later alligator, crocodile". She always keeps us laughing!

Lastly, my brother graduated from BYU last week so my whole family was able to come and meet Liam. We went out to eat for a solid 7 days and it was WONDERFUL! Sadly, Jayson left for NYC for an intern position in advertising. Luckily, my brother, Shawn, is moving here in August to follow in my footsteps and become a UTE! Sorry BYU fans. I am happy I will have family here again though.

Well, i guess that wraps it up until I can get a new computer and put some cute pictures up here.

Just Thankful

Thankful that I have two healthy, beautiful, amazing children! I love these crazy kids!

Kennedy is such a crazy kid and has to make strange faces for every picture. She also loves to say "Holla, Holla!" now when she gets excited. She is too funny!
Liam just loves to be happy, eat and sleep. Here is a picture of him when he crashed out on the floor yesterday morning.
